Pipits - Y4/5
What a start to the year! Pipits began the year by discussing the values we want our class to hold. After much deliberation and a class vote, we settled on:
- We are brave
- We are unique
- We are patient
- We try our hardest
Then it was time to launch into the curriculum!
In English, Pipits wrote wonderful poems about friendship, incorporating emotive language, similes, metaphors and abstract nouns. Concurrently, we have been enjoying reading the tales of Charles Darwin's voyage around South America and to the Galapagos Islands.
In Maths, we have been exploring place value and the myriad of ways we can represent and partition numbers all the way up to 1 million.
In our wider curriculum subjects, Pipits have enjoyed: analysing animal teeth to identify their diet; categorising industries; sampling blues music; investigating data fields and their application to top trump cards; exploring key Muslim beliefs and places of worship; drawing self-portraits in an abstract style; and playing invasion games while developing tag rugby skills.
Throughout it all, they have been smiling and trying their best. Here's to an exciting year ahead!
Year 3 - Trip
Year 3 had a fanstastic time at Adventure Okehampton. We threw axes (plastic and real ones), tackled obstacles, shot arrows in archery and climbed to new heights.
They showed great teamwork and cheered each other on during team challenges.
Summer Term D+T
Stemazing
We joined Pipits for an exciting Stem lesson ran by Stemazing. We made structures using triangular and cylindrical columns to test their strength.

Animal Encounter
We had some exciting visitors to the classroom this week. To celebrate David Attenborough’s birthday with an animal visit to the classroom. The armadillo was definitely a favourite as it wandered around our classroom.

Spring Term Science
This half term in Science, we are exploring electricity. Over the last few weeks we have made circuits and created switches.
Spring Term D+T
This term in D+T, we are exploring cams and pulley mechanisms and how they help us in everyday life. This week we had the opportunity to create a cam and pulley system to understand how they work.
