The children have started using Scratch Jnr to learning basic coding skills. They have been putting together and debugging their own algorithms. Great work, Year One!
What an incredible day we had at Plymouth National Marine Aquarium! The children were so incredibly well behaved and left us all feeling proud with their engagement during the entire day as well as all of the amazing questions they asked and answered! The staff at the Aquarium were blown away by the knowledge and understanding.
Take a look at the pictures of the creature creations workshop where the children learnt about animal identification and features of some sea creatures. They then used a paper plate to make their very own fish or whale! The children had a super time on their guided tour with the wonderful Georgia from the Aquarium. They also sat and listened to a ‘shark show’ where they learnt lots of cool shark facts. What an incredible day! Well done, Year One for being so amazing!! The children have been creating non-chronological reports in English based Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. The children researched facts about penguins and chose the information they wanted to include on their report. Collapsed curriculum day.
The children have continued to enjoy engaging in our key text, Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. This week, we have explored using a dictionary to broaden our vocabulary and develop an understanding of some of the words in the book.
Year One loved their lesson with Niall from Devon Cricket where they learnt basic batting and bowling techniques.
Year One loved sharing stories with their Year Six reading buddies! In English, the children have invented a story setting by creating their own imaginary planet. The children have developed some brilliant descriptive vocabulary by looking at a variety of different objects and using interesting adjectives to describe. The children have been able to apply the new vocabulary to their writing and have written some amazing stories about Beegu the alien visiting a new planet. Well done, Year One!
This week, the children started to develop their trackpad and keyboard skills on the laptops. The children had some time to create some digital art which really put their skills to the test!
It has been a wonderful final week of term filled with festive joy! The children blew everyone away with their incredible performance of Boogie Woogie Nativity! These tiny dancers were certainly showing off their moves. Our trip to the theatre was a great success! |
