Excitement has been high in Year Two today as the children received their parts and scripts for the annual Key Stage One production. I’m sure you’ll be hearing lots of the songs at home!
Year Two created some fantastic poppies as part of our remembrance work. The children thought carefully about why we wear poppies and who was affected by war.
On Saturday I visited St Peter’s Church in Dowland where they have created a war memorial for three soldiers that lived in the village that didn’t return from the First world war. As part of our Science work, we have been looking at our handspans and have made a hypothesis about which hands would be able to hold the most cubes.
This morning Year Two had a great morning with Sarah from the Devon Wildlife Trust. We learnt all about what the charity do and we thought carefully about the animals within out local environment. We focused on birds and thought about what they might eat during the coming months. With this in mind, we made bird feeders and hung them around our school field for the birds to enjoy.
Year Two had great fun in the Forest School Area when we recently visited. We carried out a leaf hunt investigating which leaves could be found. We enjoyed having hot chocolate and biscuits that we cooked on the campfire and build shelters for the three little wolves, based on the book that we read. The Three Littles Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.
