On Monday, in science we learnt about the three different rock types: sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. We used starburst to understand how the different rocks are formed. With lots of starbursts left over, the children took some home to demonstrate the investigation to their families. Thank you for the photos and well done for remembering what we did in class and sharing your knowledge. Reading: to read out loud and discuss the text every day for 15 minutes. Kind Regards Mrs Donovan At the end of our first week back Year 3 still seem to have lots of energy! It has been wonderful to have you all back in class and we have enjoyed getting to know you all. Next week we will be starting our science and history topics, "Rocks" and "The Stone, Bronze & Iron Ages". In preparation for Science on Monday, I would be grateful if you could bring in a live worm or two. I promise we will look after them and set them free in a few weeks.
You have all worked hard this week, both Mrs Glover and I have been really impressed. Have a lovely weekend and we'll look forward to seeing you all on Monday morning. I hope you've had a wonderful summer break. Mrs Glover and I are looking forward to welcoming you back into class tomorrow.
And....just like that, we are entering into the last full week before the summer holiday! We must say, the last few weeks have been quite sad for us knowing that we won't get to see you properly or teach you again in Year 3. At least Miss Chalcraft will have you in Year 4 though! So, here goes our last home learning post for you... As it is the last week before the holidays, you can either follow the whiterose/bitesize/Hamilton plans or you can have some fun with this Theme Park Project! Have a look at all options and pick which you prefer. Enjoy! Maths (Whiterose): Monday Answers Tuesday Answers Wednesday Answers Thursday Answers Friday - the Whiterose challenge set online Again, if you wish for extra resources, the BBC bitesize goes hand in hand with the whiterose. Literacy (BBC bitesize): As it is the last week, please feel free to choose any literacy activity from last weeks Bitesize lessons and this week coming lessons. This is because we were a week behind on the bitesize plans therefore choose away! Alternatively, here is the Hamilton units if you wish to finish on these: Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Topic Your final topic web is 'Growing and Changing'. With this, and following our new PSHE scheme, there is a Year 3 PowerPoint on 'body space - PANTS' and an accompanying activity. It would be great if you could fit this in somewhere in your home learning schedule for the week. KS1 Growing and Changing KS2 Growing and Changing PANTS PowerPoint PANTS worksheet We fully understand the tiredness and lack of enthusiasm that could be building up therefore we will not be setting any work for the last Monday and Tuesday. If we were in school, we would not be completing 'school work' anyway! A week of beach trips, science experiments, art activities and new pets! A busy week in Year 3. Well done to you all! |
