This week, we had our final gymnastic lesson. The children were thrilled to use the large apparatus.
![]() This week, we met up with our reading buddies from Year 6. It’s always great to see the children get together and share books. We enjoyed wearing spots for a spotacular children in need. Today was our last day with Miss Williams before she leaves for her well-deserved maternity leave. I want to take this opportunity to thank Miss Williams for being so brilliant with the children and for all of her hard work with us in Year One. The staff and children will miss her lots but are very excited to meet her baby when they arrive. This week, after lots of hard work and resilience, the children finished their puppets. The puppets look amazing and I am so proud of how hard the children worked to create such a high standard of work. The puppets are now taking pride of place on display on the Year One classroom.
We’ve been testing our patience, resilience and sewing skills while joining our felt puppets together in our DT lessons. The children have done an incredible job. After half term, we will be finishing our puppets with details. A big thank you to Miss Williams and Mrs Bazeley for their help with this. We loved meeting up with our Year 6 reading buddies to share our new reading for pleasure books. In Science, we have been learning about our senses. This week, we tested our sense of taste and tried a variety of different foods. Have a super half term!
We had a wonderful time on Thursday morning with Sara from the Devon Wildlife Trust. The children shared some amazing facts about wildlife in Devon; Sara was really impressed with their knowledge. We then made bird feeders to help keep the birds full as the weather is starting to get colder.
Rain didn’t stop play last week. We loved getting outside and putting our waterproofs to good use! Reading, story telling, building, creating, designing, risk taking, problem solving and a lot of team work… even when we’re ‘playing’ independently there’s a lot of learning going on.
Year One class of 21-22. It has been an amazing year and we’ve made so many brilliant memories.
Have a wonderful summer! |
