We had a super time at Quince Honey Farm last Monday. The children had the opportunity to hold a bee frame, taste 4 different types of honey, make a candle from bees wax and learn about a few curious creatures. We then ate some of the delicious Devon honey from Quince on some crumpets when we came back to school! Thank you to Mrs Bazeley, Mrs Snell and Miss Marvin for helping on the trip. On Friday, we loved teaming up with Year 2 for a trip on the train to Exmouth. As you can see from the photos below, the children had a great time spotting trains, paddling in the sea, building sandcastles, playing on the beach and of course eating ice-creams. It was such a great day! A huge thank you to Mike and Rebecca from The Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership and Great Western Railway for joining us on our journey and covering the cost of our travel. The trip would not have been possible without additional help, so a huge thank you to: Mrs Dennis, Mrs Bazeley, Mrs Glover, Mrs White, Mr Wilkins, Miss Marvin, Piers, Mary, Ashley, Charlie and Conlaed. Photo gallery from our trips to Quince and Exmouth.
Mrs Dennis has a litter of 9 gorgeous puppies at home so of course 2 of them had to come for a little visit.
Hands up who thinks Miss Rowe should keep one? What a super week we’ve had in the sunshine participating in a variety of sport activities. On Tuesday, we had a multi-skills afternoon with OCRA. The children had the opportunity to learn fencing, football skills, basketball skills and dance to name a few. As you can see, even the teachers were enjoying the dancing! On Wednesday, year 1 and 2 travelled to Hatherleigh Cricket Club to join the DMAT festival of hope. We had a fantastic time with activities set up by Devon Cricket and Exeter Chiefs. We had a wonderful morning on Thursday meeting the children who will be in Year 1 in September. We spent time getting to know each other and the children painted some wonderful self portraits which look super.
This week in science we have been learning about what a plant needs to grow. We planted some broad beans which we hope will begin to sprout over the next few weeks ready for the children to take home and continue to care for over the summer holidays.
The children did some great independent writing explaining how to grow a plant too. It was lovely to welcome the children back after half term this week.
This week, we have been getting prepared for the wonderful music concert which will take place next week. A big thank you to Mrs White and Mrs Dunn who took charge or rehearsals this week! We had a lovely time at the forest school making salt dough sea creatures and baking them on the fire.
