In Maths this week, we have been learning about positional language. We used this language to give our partner instructions to follow, we also drew maps and programmed our Beebots to navigate their way around the maps.
Mrs Dennis. In Science, Year Two have been learning about food chains. In groups, we had a go at creating our own.
"The food chain starts with a producer." Kathryn. "The consumer eats something else to give them energy." Alex. "At the top of the food chain, it's the predator. The predator doesn't get eaten. " Freddie. "Prey is something that is eaten by a predator." Isabelle. "The predator eats it's prey." Agatha. "The energy passes from animal to animal." Albany. Mrs Dennis. Year Two have been enjoying learning about an Orchestra and have been following the work of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. The children were able to find out about the different families within an orchestra and were then able to join in with some body percussion of their own.
Mrs Dennis. bsolive.com/digital/explore-the-orchestra-bsl-livestream/ Despite the wet weather, Year Two enjoyed a great morning outside playing team games, enjoying the forest school area and having hot chocolate and biscuits together!
Mrs Dennis. Year Two thoroughly enjoyed watching William's bike riding video, that he made after his recent trip to the Forest of Dean!
As part of our Art work we have been exploring colour and the work of the Russian painter, Wassily Kandinksy.
Mrs Dennis. As part of pour Science topic 'Living things' we have been discussing what it means to be a living thing. We went for a walk around the school grounds to look for things that were 'dead', 'alive' or 'things that had never been alive'. The children held some great discussions about how they would categorise the different items that they'd found.
"Living things need water." Tilly. "They get rid of their waste and they move." Ted. "Living things reproduce.... they have babies." Annabel. "Living things move and they have babies." William. Mrs Dennis. Year Two have had great fun constructing, decorating and finally burning their tudor houses.
Mrs Dennis, Mrs Horsley and Mrs Dunn. Year Two had a great, Easter themed morning in the forest school area. After collecting sticks for our fire, we went on an Easter scavenger hunt. We then had to use the bow saw and the drill to make tree cookies which we decorated to go on our Easter tree.
