Much excitement here at Chalcraft HQ as most of the seeds we planted over the past few weeks have started coming up! The tomato, cauliflower and strawberry plants haven't been nibbled on yet either! Hurray! Everything that has been used for planting started its life with a different use, so lots of 'up cycling' going on. Have you got similar photos to share?
I look forward to hearing from you today with news, work to share if you would like to and your happy faces obviously! Albeit our Easter break has come to an end, there are some fantastic 'maths challenges' posted by White Rose for extra learning. They are suitable for children of all ages to access at their own level. Please send us any photos of you having a go at them! Click the link below.
White Rose Easter maths challenges Good Morning Year 3!
We hope you are all well and have made a good start on your home learning (whilst sitting on a belly full of Easter Eggs!). Just to reiterate, the maths learning for this week is Week 2 NOT Summer Term week 1. Opening the link takes you to Summer term week 1 but we have yet to access Week 2 (the rest of the UK broke up for Easter a week later than us). Please remember that if you find it tricky, you may of course access the Year 2 maths (which is also fraction work). Thank you for those of you who have already got in touch, we really do love hearing from you! Please email in, even its just to say 'Hi!' - we miss you all so much! Here's a few photos we have received already - just look at that yummy birthday cake, apparently it is easier to concentrate when you wear your school uniform and dancing to the cows is now the 'in thing!' What lovely snaps, thank you. Please take care, Mrs Peters & Miss Chalcraft Hello to all Year 3 and a very happy Easter to you all. We hope you have had a lovely holiday and have enjoyed this fantastic weather.
Here is this weeks learning for you (we have included learning for Monday too, even though it is a bank holiday, obviously the choice is yours!). If you choose not to on Monday, start with the Monday learning on Tuesday. There is a lot attached here for you but some is weekly, fortnightly or half termly. Maths Please follow the white rose link and complete Year 3 week 2 (this is fraction work following on from the week before Easter) Maths week 2 Literacy Monday Tuesday Text to accompany Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Afternoon topic work will run on a fortnightly basis. The topic web for the next two weeks is “Butterflies”. This theme runs throughout all year groups therefore siblings can work together. You are free to do as much as you like, please don’t let the topic web restrict you, if you can think of linked activities feel free to follow your own ideas. Try to access activities from a range of subject areas. We would love to see some “Butterflies” work and activities you are particularly proud of and if you'd like (with your permission) we can post them on the Year 3 blog. Here is the link to the KS1 "Butterflies" topic web page too as we are aware that some of you may prefer some of these activities as well. Later in the week, we shall post a half termly RE unit of work for you to access too (there will be a choice of two units to access), we just don't want to bombard you right now with everything! Enjoy and we are both looking forward to seeing examples of your activities via email. Keep smiling :) Mrs Peters & Miss Chalcraft Have a look at the school news blog to see two wonderful videos sent in by year three pupils. Two of our pupils found a damaged slow worm by the road. They have decided to rescue him over the Easter break.
They have been learning about and creating a habitat for him/her. They have also been collecting worms and slugs for him. So excited to follow the updates! Woodland Trust - If you have access to a woodland nearby, these activities can be adapted to suit your children's interests. Send us your photos of your creations please.
