This week, Year 3 have continued to work on multiplication and division, playscripts and they have investigated friction in science. Have a lovely weekend.
This week, in English, the children have been doing lots of work on adverbs. They have been using them to describe how Greek Gods or Goddesses move or speak.
Year three have also started to investigate forces in science and levers and pulleys in design technology. In history, the class have learnt all about the Golden Age of ancient Greece and how the ancient Greeks shaped our alphabet, language and some sports. The children have made a fantastic start to the new term and come back with really positive and proactive attitudes. This week, we have started to explore playscripts and Greek Myths in English, continued learning about multiplication and division in Maths, started to learn about Ancient Greece in History and investigated the permeability of soils in our Science lesson. The children have also enjoyed their first Saints PE session of the term where they have been starting to learn and practise different hockey skills. Have a lovely weekend.
As well as getting into the festive spirit, Year 3 had the chance to make their own dinosaur fossils this week! We've also had a fun-filled week with the pantomime trip, Christmas dinner and our school Christingle service. Have a lovely Christmas break - see you all on 4th January.
This week, Year 3 finally had the chance to erupt their volcanoes. We also had the opportunity to s have a question and answer session with a volcanologist called Sian Crosweller. A very exciting way to bring our Mountains, Volcano and Earthquake topic to an end. As you can see, the volcanoes the class are creating are coming along nicely. The children are getting very excited about erupting them in the next week or so! We also have some budding geologists in class! This week, the children have been investigating rocks. They tested how hard they were, whether they were permeable or not and whether they reacted to acid (household vinegar). Have a lovely weekend!
This week, Year 3 have started a new English unit based on Ted Hugh's book, The Iron Man. As a class, we have started to explore similes. Year 3 have also continued working on their volcanoes this week. As you can see, they're really starting to take shape now. Have a lovely weekend!
Spotacular Fun!The children had a lovely day dressing up and joining in with some Children in Need activities.
This week, the children have been exploring newspaper articles, learning about fold mountains, written addition and subtraction and have made a start on their model volcanoes!
Year 3 have had a fantastic first week back which all started with their trip to Kents Cavern. During the visit, the children learnt about the cave system and who lived in it during Stone Age Times, they explored artefacts (some replicas and some real) and completed a challenge around the wildlife trail. I was incredibly impressed with the facts and knowledge they had remembered, from our Prehistoric Britain unit, and how beautifully behaved and enthusiastic they all were!
