Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius, Krakatoa and Mount St. Helens Using the world map in your homework books mark where in the world these volcanoes are please? Thank you, Miss Chalcraft, Miss Bennett, Mrs White We have started our new Science topic 'SOUND' and new Geography topic 'VOLCANOES'.
In Science, we talked about what sound meant to us, favourite sounds, sounds we dislike and how sounds make us feel. We all agreed that walking on crunchy snow was a sound we loved and agreed that polystyrene squeaking was an awful sound! We watched these video clips on BBC Bitesize In Geography, we remembered some of the work we did in lockdown and a few children brought in their paper mâché Volcanoes. We are excitedly planning a Volcano topic day where we will do everything todo with Volcanoes, including the odd explosion! Please find below some of the key vocabulary that we will be learning this half term. Have a lovely weekend staying local, Miss Chalcraft, Miss Bennett and Mrs White. We have enjoyed a superb showcase afternoon. Very well done Year 4 and talented helpers.
Task One: Maths We have started addition and subtraction, so you will find a worksheet in your child's homework books and here is a helpful video to show methods. It gets trickier and more of a challenge from question 7 so your brains may ache! See how you go, and please don't worry if too tricky right now. Task Two: You are a food critic. Choose a meal from each course from the menu below (and find printed in your homework books) and review each course. Use your imagination (best avoid google for this please). What did it taste like? Look like? Smell like? Would you eat it again? Star rating out of 5? Task Three: Reading each evening please, checking that you understand what you are reading. If you find any new vocabulary, please write it down to share. Thank you, Miss Chalcraft, Mrs White and Miss Bennett |
