In science this term we are leaning about the human body, this week it was the heart. The children learnt about its function, wrote some technically accurate descriptions supported by detailed diagrams. Great work!
In our investigation, we simulated the heart's pumping action and discovered the benefits of valves. We've completed the first week - well done!
You have all worked hard and been focused. As a class, you have demonstrated some great scientific knowledge, team working and shown me your diverse acting skills. Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you all on Monday. What a great day! It has been lovely having you all in today or should is an EGGcellent day ... some great protective constructions today but we did see a few yolks. Let's see how the reverse challenge goes on Friday.
Have a relaxing evening - Mrs Budworth and I are already looking forward to tomorrow. The children all had a fantastic time on Monday taking part in circus skills. They had a go at a whole host of activities from juggling and plate spinning to walking on stilts. It was so lovely to see them all thoroughly enjoying themselves, laughing and smiling! Next week, the class have fencing and some science-based fun to look forward to.
Have a lovely weekend! It's been another busy week, but the highlights have definitely been Ultimate Frisbee and the rock pool experience.
The children learnt some new skills and played different games for ultimate frisbee; their will results will now count towards the Devon Games and we will find out how they fared against other schools. This morning, the children also learnt about rock pools and the different living creatures you find in them. They even had chance to handle one of the smaller crabs and investigate the different types of seaweed, sea snails and even some small hermit crabs. Next week, we have more visitors to look forward too, starting with circus skills on Monday afternoon! A big thank you to all of you who have sent in costumes or props for our performance already - it's starting to come together nicely! Have a great weekend everyone. Year 6 enjoyed another fantastic day out on Dartmoor with Dartmoor Park Ranger, Ian Brooking, on Thursday. They completed a 5.5 mile walk around and over Cosdon with plenty of opportunities for insect sampling and Dartmoor knowledge gathering on the way. Due to Mrs Everett's injured knee, I (Mrs Marvin) got to accompany the pupils and thoroughly enjoyed their company. Well done, year 6.
Year 6 have massively impressed me this week with their level of maturity during our SRE (SCARF) lessons; they were incredibly thoughtful and considerate of others when asking questions and making suggestions - well done to all of you.
On Thursday, they had their final day John Muir walk. Mrs Marvin commented on how well the class behaved and how resilient they were over the lengthy walk. This morning, the class also took part in the Mathematics World Cup. Children from schools all over the world take part; it is said that over 30,000 children are taking part across the globe. The children were divided into teams and answered different mathematical questions in between taking part in physical exercise. They all thoroughly enjoyed it! Have a lovely weekend! |
