The class have had a great first week; they have been busy making a rather special discovery on the school field, enjoying their first PE lesson with Saints coach, Mr Berry and creating beautiful artwork. A rather special egg.On Tuesday, the class went onto the field to listen to the sounds, investigate their surroundings and think of adjectives to describe the things they could see and hear. They couldn't believe it when they found something rather unexpected... All the children have been incredibly excited about finding this rather special egg and have come up with all sorts of predictions for what could be inside. After seeing some footage of dragons in flight, the class have decided it is most likely a dragon egg! But what kind of dragon could it be? Investigating blendingNext week, the class will be sketching dragon eyes and adding colour to them with different materials, so this week we investigated blending. The class went to work with pastels, chalks, paints and pencil crayons to decide which colours blended easily and which were the most vibrant. A great week, everyone. Well done!
Have a lovely weekend. It was wonderful to see all the children today and welcome them back to school. Every child has made a fantastic effort on their first day and I'm really excited to see how they progress during the year.
We've spent the day getting to know the layout of the classroom, the new timings and routines of KS2, working together on some team and class challenges and investigating colour mixing in art this afternoon. A great first day back - well done, everyone! Mrs Everett On Friday we had a storyteller visit school and she captivated the children with a tale about a boy and a storytelling star.
When we went back into the classroom the children drew sections from the story and shared their own tales. Great work everyone! This week we started our new science unit, living things including humans, we initially focused on bones and muscles. The children already knew many of the names of bones and internal organs, and where they were in the human body. Great start Year 3!
![]() This week we went over to Forest School, it was a sunny morning and only started to rain when we were back in the classroom, timing! The children were able to use their scientific knowledge regarding seed dispersible and even became squirrels hiding their nuts, but they weren't very successful at retrieving them all! It was great fun exploring the new layout, collecting wood for the fire and creating clay creatures. The creatures were all given their own habitat, next time we'll discovery how protected they were. |
